OUR SUSTAINABILITY STORY

Certified Sustainable

Pete’s Pure (Duxton Vineyards) is currently the largest certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia with 2,000ha of surrounding native vegetation, which acts as a sanctuary of the Regent Parrot and bee foraging grounds, creating a self-protecting ecosystem which limits the need for chemical insecticides.

Making a difference

We’re working towards 100% renewable. It’s our goal. Each step we tread brings us closer to our target. When we press our grapes, seeds, skins, and stalks are composted (8,000+ tonnes a year). We’ve installed solar panels avoiding over 750 tonnes of C02 emissions and we rely on organic fertilisers and pest control meaning we boost soil health and ramp up our biodiversity. We also recycle everything we can – from vineyard trellising to up to 150 million litres of water every year.

Our Vineyards

The Southern Murray Darling region sits at the junction of New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, and is one of the most fertile regions in Australia. Ancient soils, abundant sunshine and warm, dry weather make this a unique part of our country.

This means perfect grape growing conditions and while nature plays a huge role, our team also works to make sure our home gets its best chance to shine. In keeping with our pure principles, we aim to leave the soils and land in pristine condition.

In Partnership

As we continue our journey towards better, we’re now very excited to report that our home, Duxton Vineyards, is now a Bronze Partner of Sustainability Advantage, a program of the NSW Government’s Office of Energy and Climate Change.

We are committed to further strengthening our environmental performance and we are very proud to have our efforts recognised by the NSW Government’s Office of Energy and Climate Change. Find out more around the award here.
